Job Description

Standard Media Index (SMI), the most trusted global source of advertising intelligence, is looking for an experienced Director of Insights. This role will have a focus in the UK market -where SMI has acquired data from most agency holding groups and leading independents- centering on verticals across all major media types (TV, Digital, Print, Radio, OOH), and clients/partners across media owners, agencies, brands, advertising technology companies, financial services, and measurement consultancies. The role will also work closely with the US and global teams to leverage data, analytic skills, and industry knowledge to uncover insights and assemble them into a cohesive message back to clients and the market.

You will guide our clients through insights that can be acted upon. Take a consultative approach to inform and assist clients in gaining value from the insights. Work with the marketing and analytics teams to release intelligence to the marketplace in the form of reports, simple insights, or whitepapers. Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and explain demand-side market trends in the advertising landscape
  • Manage market positioning of SMI to Partners, Clients, and industry trade press
  • Lead consultative presentations to C-level Clients & Partners
  • Able to deliver both qualitative and quantitative insights through various moves (i.e.. writing, visual materials or live presentations)
  • Understand and deliver the unique proposition of SMI data to Client Strategy & Media Investment teams at our Partner Agencies
  • Understand and deliver the unique proposition of SMI data to Ad Sales, Distribution, and Corporate Strategy teams at our clients
  • Support data quality efforts
  • Work with Marketing and Sales teams to position SMI in the marketplace
  • Work with Product as a domain expert in identifying and documenting data and product features that differentiate and add value to SMI services and products

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years of media marketplace Insight or research and/or category trending & forecasting
  • 5+ years of direct experience in understanding and quantitatively describing ad market dynamics for Linear TV and Digital
  • Superior analytical skills with keen ability to develop and articulate meaningful insights for a variety of constituents within the media industry
  • Be a (data-driven) storyteller
  • Experience presenting to C-level (or equivalent) roles
  • Must be proficient with both Excel & PowerPoint
  • Data Visualization capability (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, Sisense, Looker or similar)
  • Advanced skills in data programming languages a plus: SQL, R, Python
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Capable of holding audience attention both in-person and remote
